Language Conventions

When writing my double page spread it is very important to consider the language adopted by music magazines and how they address. It’s also important to keep in mind how the language can link to your target audience.

One of the features I looked at for research was one about Kings Of Leon called The Regals Have Landed. The language is quite informal but is still filled with lots of facts about the band. This suggests that it’s the target audiences are young of around 16 to 30 and they don’t like to read overly complicated text but still want to find out about this famous band. We can tell that the language is informal by the way they make jokes in their writing making the piece more light-hearted. They talk about gigs a lot in the in the piece so we can infer that the target audience likes going out to gigs and festivals. It has some metaphors witch shows that they consider their target audience quite smart so they will understand them. This also makes the article lighter hearted.
